A long-time resident of Daly City, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, January 24, 2015 with her family by her side. Born in Yelm, Washington on January 4, 1935 to Claude and Ruth Arfman, Ann was a chatty happy girl and enjoyed her childhood with her siblings Dena and Keith. The family moved to Tacoma, Washington, where Ann made lifelong friendship­s.

She moved to California to be closer to her family. She started a long-time, successful career at Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco – first at the Market Montgomery Branch and then was promoted to Vice President and worked at Wells Fargo Headquarte­rs until her retirement.

Ann met Leo Hopkins – the love of her life - at the famous Joe’s of Westlake. They were married in 1978 and enjoyed many happy years of wonderful road trips and golf adventures – from Monterey and Carmel to Hawaii and Ireland. Ann’s passion was golf and she especially loved the beautiful Olympic Club Ocean course. Ann and Leo also were avid sports fans and loved their Giants and 49ers!

Ann loved to work in her garden with her beloved cat Bobby by her side.

Ann was truly one of a kind. She had a great sense of humor, a quick smile, and a beautiful spirit. She enjoyed her Manhattans!. She spent time caring for her mother, and she was also a loving caregiver for Leo during a long battle with kidney disease.

Ann is survived by her loving sister Dena Whelan (“Sissy”) and brother- in- law Ray of Seattle, Washington. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and spouses, many grandniece­s and nephews, great grandnephe­ws. She is also survived by her step children and grandchild­ren.

She is back in the loving arms of her dear Leo. Ann also made many special lifelong friends who will all miss her laugh and her love of life. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and Ann’s Celebratio­n of Life will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Dixon Cemetery.
