Muriel Cahn

Jun 21, 1934 - Jan 28, 2015

-

Muriel, a long time and much loved resident of San Francisco, was born in New York, graduated from Columbia University at a tender age, and worked as a journalist, entertainer – yes, even singing at Carnegie Hall! - and a shrewd real estate investor. A second citizen of Italy, where she met her husband and spent so much time, Muriel was clever, wonderful, and, if you were lucky, more than good to know. Well read and current on all world events, her dinner party banter would have been the envy of Dorothy Parker. Her friendships were expansive, and many of us who were fortunate enough to have been caught in her wide cast nets, will be forever grateful!

Muriel’s grieving husband of 42 short years, Italian born Aurelio Lioi, more than

misses her, along with all her friends, who recall her as a supportive, creative

woman who would lend a kind word to those in need, especially those outside the mainstream. She was more than charitable in her support not just for others, but in her volunteer work with an assortment of charities, including The San Francisco Press Club.

In addition to her surviving husband, Aurelio, Muriel is survived by her loved daughter, Melanie, of San Francisco, her sister Bunny of Cambridge, MA, her Italian brothers and sisters-in-law and many Bay Area cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her dear daughter, Kathy, predeceased by her.

A celebration of her life will be held this Tuesday, February 3, at Sinai Memorial

Chapel, 1501 Divisadero St., in San Francisco, at 2P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or any of your favorite charities.

Muriel will be more than missed by too many to count.
