Claire Collins Skall

-

Died peacefully at her Kent Woodlands home on Thursday January 22, 2015 with her family and beloved dog “Shasta Butterfly”, by her side. For those of you who knew Claire, she was considered by many to be a strong, independent and free spirited woman. Claire was born January 15, 1930 and grew up in Kenilworth, Illinois. Claire loved ice skating, music of all kinds and always seeked adventure. Later on Claire became involved with Ravinia and even had her own Radio Show. Through Stanford University (1952), Claire traveled to all of the 7 continents. Claire was continually learning and discovering what was new.

Claire was involved with various organizations which included: Guide Dogs For The Blind, Hospice By The Bay, San Francisco Opera, Junior League of San Francisco, California Heritage Council and Marin Symphony, to name a few. Claire’s countless years of volunteering with Hospice By The Bay (25) was such a meaningful part of her life. She gave so much to so many!

Claire was always giving of her time and ideas. Claire never met a person without taking an interest in exactly who they were, where they came from and what they themselves were involved in. They in turn always were taken by her unique ways and true sense of caring.

Claire leaves behind her loving son Michael and daughter in law Marcia Skall, daughter Charlotte and son in law, David Winters, brother Julien and sister in law, Jo Ann Collins, and four adoring grandchildren Marlena and Mackie Skall, Brendan and Kyle Winters, and loving dog “Shasta Butterfly”. No service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice By The Bay or Guide Dogs For The Blind.
