Sprawling estate in Kenwood
Sale includes four parcels, two with luxury homes
Whoever visits the 160-acre estate recently listed in Kenwood has effectively lived a Bob Ross painting. Here, life imitates the art of the velvet-voiced painter in the form of towering evergreens and sun-kissed hills.
Two luxury homes occupy the sprawling estate, but the listing agent believes the right buyer of 730 Adobe Canyon Road should insist on touring the palatial homes only after traversing the grounds.
“We’re selling land with houses, not houses with land,” said Nicki Naylor of Alain Pinel Realtors, who is co-listing the verdant estate with Tim Murray of Intero Real Estate Services for $22 million. “When someone is buying more than 100 acres and they don’t get out and tour it, then they are probably not the right buyer.”
One nearly 6,000-squarefoot home boasts a stone courtyard, outdoor kitchen, resort master suite and an awe-inspiring great room, but the roughly 160 acres it occupies is the star.
The price tag includes a total of four adjacent parcels, two of which already have luxury homes. Each lot includes a well and underground utilities. The largest parcel, coming in at a little more than 100 acres, is 748 Adobe Canyon Road. Nicknamed Casa Sol, the land includes a custom residence with roughly 6,100 square feet of living space.
Approved plans for fivebedroom homes come with Casa Paraiso and Casa Lago, the vacant lots included in the transaction.
Casa La Vid, the residence at 730 Adobe Canyon Road, offers finishes of Sonoma fieldstone, dappled stucco and reclaimed hardwood. Arches both inside and out showcase the home’s European stylings, and the
stone courtyard features an outdoor fireplace.
Large picture windows in the great room frame views of the bucolic surroundings. The great room’s open-beam ceiling and wood-framed win- dows complement stone arches providing an Old World aesthetic. Two massive pocket doors access a loggia with an outdoor kitchen with built-in barbecue. Just beyond is a pool and spa set beside hardscaping and a level lawn.
Inside, a home theater, bar and separate wine cellar offer entertainment areas to suit a variety of interests.
The next owners can retire to a master suite akin to a luxury hotel room. Wideplank hardwood flooring lines the room beneath a tray ceiling. A raised, wraparound fireplace warms the suite’s sitting area, and the room opens to a patio accessing the grounds. A freestanding tub sits beneath a picture window with horizontal sliding panes in a bathroom that also offers a glass shower and built-in speakers.
