Lucille Meagher Krow

-

Passed away on January 25, 2015 at the age of ninety-nine. She is now with her beloved husband Dave. Lucille was born in San Francisco on September 18, 1915 to the late Minnie and Daniel Meagher. She had six brothers and sisters, Bernice, Helen, Clifford, Daniel, Gail and Charles, all of whom have predeceased her. Lucille was baptized at St. Paul Parish. When she was eight years old, the family moved to the Richmond District, in a house on Fulton Street, across from Golden Gate Park. The summers would be spent at the family cabin at the Russian River. Lucille graduated from St. Monica’s Elementary School, and went on to Star of the Sea High School, where she graduated in 1933. Lucille worked many years at the White House Department Store in San Francisco, until it closed in 1965. She then worked at Mary’s Help Hospital (now Seton) in San Francisco, and moved with them to their new facility in Daly City. She retired from Mary’s Help Hospital in 1981, but continued to volunteer at the Hospital in the gift shop for many years. Also in 1981, she married the love of her life, David Krow. They had many happy years together before his death in 2013. During their marriage, they enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Canada, and New England. Most of all, they enjoyed being a second mother and father to many nieces and nephews. Aunt Lu, who became an aunt for the first time at the age of thirteen, had many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews who arrived throughout the years and she enjoyed so much being a part of their lives. She did her best to make sure each family member had what they needed, whether it be bringing bags of groceries to someone who was having hard times, or making sure all the children’s clothes were recycled and moved on to the next family member who needed them. She would be at your bedside if you were in the hospital. She would show up unexpectedly at a doctor’s appointment when you needed her the most. She made sure that family milestones were celebrated. She had a wonderful quick wit and Irish sense of humor that endeared her to all of us. She always cared so much about each of her relatives. She was a treasured member of our family and she will be sorely missed.
