Catherine Eberhard Jacobson

-

Cathy passed away at home in Kentfield on January 28. She was surrounded by her family and her beloved dog, Diego. She was born on October 20, 1951 to Kurt Eberhard and Stella Castillo Eberhard in New York City.

Cathy had five siblings, Curtis (her twin), John, Michael, Robert, and Richard (also twins). She was raised in upstate New York and moved in the early 1960s to the Woodland Hills home where her mother still lives. Cathy’s fondest memories of her life in Southern California included going to the beach, organizing dances at the Tri-Center, then retiring to Bob’s Big Boy for fries with blue cheese dressing. In 1965, she and her best pal snuck into the Beverly Hills Hotel to deliver a shirt they had made for Mick Jagger, following a concert on the Rolling Stones’ first U.S. tour. She was a lover of 60s rock and soul. She graduated from Canoga Park High School in 1969.

Cathy attended nursing school and worked as an LVN at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo. In the mid-1970s, she moved to San Francisco, where she worked at Children’s Hospital in the neonatal and newborn ICU units.

Cathy was introduced to her future husband, Derek, in 1979. They were married June 23, 1984. The couple has two children, Alexandra and Brian. The family moved to Kentfield in 1988.

Cathy was an excellent cook; a skilled gardener; an avid tennis player; a devoted mother, and a fast friend. She survived a bout with cancer in 2012 and suffered a relapse in September 2014.

She is survived by her husband, daughter, son, her mother, and her brother, John. She is deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 8, at 1:00 p.m. at the Marin Art & Garden Center. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
