ANAHEIM — Chris Bassitt, acquired in the Jeff Samardzija deal with the White Sox, was called up Thursday and said he has addressed some of the issues he had during spring training.

Bassitt had an 8.78 ERA during spring training, and his primary problem was that he couldn’t throw inside effectively to left- handed hitters.

He has resolved that by moving from the third- base side of the rubber back to the first- base side, Bassitt said Thursday.

“I feel a million times better,” he said. “A lot better results than spring training. Lefties, I’m very comfortable facing again.”

Bassitt was 1- 1 with a 3.38 ERA in three games, two of them starts, for Triple- A Nashville, with 16 strikeouts and four walks in 16 innings.

The right- hander will be in long relief until Jesse Chavez, Thursday’s starter, is available to work in the bullpen again. He also could be an emergency starter. What Pujols said: Brett Lawrie did not say Albert Pujols called the Royals “bush league.”

That was an erroneous interpretation of Lawrie’s comments following the Royals’ suspensions Tuesday. Two media outlets, including The Chronicle, reported that Lawrie said that Pujols, the Angels’ first baseman, had told him the Royals do “bush- league stuff.”

Lawrie was in fact making the statement himself.

Here is what Lawrie said: “I talked to Albert Pujols at first base. This guy has been in the game forever, he’s one of the best players in the game. And for him to say that, ‘ Hey, man, you’re playing the game hard.’ And for them ( the Royals) to do that, it’s bush- league stuff.” BART issues Sunday: The track between the Coliseum and Fruitvale BART stations will be closed Sunday and BART will provide buses between the two stations.

A’s fans traveling from the north or west on Sunday can take buses from Fruitvale Station to Coliseum Station. Return buses from Coliseum Station to Fruitvale Station will be available after the game. Fans traveling on the Dublin/ Pleasanton line from the east will have direct access to Coliseum Station. Those traveling from the south on the Fremont line will have to transfer at Bay Fair Station.
