Robert “Bob” Kelly
August 1, 1936 - April 21, 2015
It is with great sadness the family of Robert “Bob” Kelly announces his passing. He died peacefully at home with his family by his side on April 21, 2015. Bob was born and raised in San Francisco, son of the late John F. Kelly and Lena Chiesa Kelly. He lived a wonderful life filled with adventure, accomplishment, and the love of family and friends. Bob was a hardworking man, humorous, opinionated and unflitered, outgoing, and generous. He served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne in the US Army, stationed in Germany and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunted all over the world, and was a member of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Safari Club International, Ducks Unlimited, National Rifle Association, Mzuri Club, California Waterfowl Association, Mule Deer Foundation, and the American Legion. Bob was the owner of Kelly Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. in San Francisco, and served the entire Bay Area for 35 years. He was a long- time resident of Hillsborough, where he made a beautiful home with his beloved wife of 53 years, the late Barbara Kelly.
Bob is survived by his loving daughter Laurie Petrini and his sidekick dog Ike; his brother John J. Kelly ( Rosemarie), and grandchildren Alexandra Petrini ( Joseph Ley), Anthony Petrini ( Erin), and Katherine and Nicolas Petrini; and by his greatgrandchildren, Madelyn and Austin. His brother James J. Kelly ( Mary- Ellen) preceded him in death.
Friends are invited to gather for visitation from 12: 00 noon until 1: 00 pm on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the CROSBY - N. GRAY & CO. Funeral Home, 2 Park Road, Burlingame. A funeral service will commence at 1: 00 pm, after which friends are invited to gather for a reception at Crystal Springs Golf Club, 6650 Golf Course Dr., Burlingame. Private interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, San Mateo. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society are suggested.
