Harriet A. Ward

Devoted sister, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother. Harriet led an amazing life. She was the Director and consultant to Early Childhood Programs, including Head Start programs, in the East Bay. She dedicated herself to children and families, and was very committed to undeserved populations.

Harriet loved to travel. She and her beloved twin sister Jean went on many adventures, and could always be counted on to go to the Twins conventions. Harriet was committed to living a healthy lifestyle, which included healthy eating and physical fitness. Several newspaper articles featured Harriet and her twin Jean, as they filled big shoes in their local community, including their efforts for the Walk Across Arizona campaign to get people walking!

Harriet took great pride in her children, Becky and Jeffrey, her grandchildren, Caitlyn ( Tola ) and Derek ( Patrina ), and her greatgrandchildren, Sean, Madison, Ryan, Michael, Tayo, and Lola. She loved to have lunches and dinners, with all of them, and relished hearing about their many activities.

In 2013 Harriet, with her twin sister Jean moved from Green Valley Arizona to Piedmont Gardens in Oakland, California.

Harriet leaves behind her identical twin sister Millicent Jean, her children, Becky and Jeffrey, grandchildren Caitlyn and Derek, greatgrandchildren Sean, Madison, Ryan, Michael, Tayo, and Lola, as well as her sister Amelia, and stepsons Jim ( Dorothy) and Nick ( Kim ) as well as other great nieces and nephews.

Harriet was a loving, caring person who enjoyed life and the people she met along the way. She lived life to the fullest and her wonderful spirit remains with those she loved.

A memorial service will take place at All Souls Episcopal Church (Parish) in Berkeley, 2220 Cedar Street on Saturday, June 13th at 1 pm. You may express your condolences at www. Sunsetviewcemetery.com. Arrangements entrusted to Sunset View Mortuary and Cemetery, El Cerrito, CA.
