Angelo J. Stagnaro Jr., 81, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, April 19, after a brief battle with cancer.

Angelo was born in San Francisco, on October 25, 1933, to two loving parents, Angelo and Anita (Franzoni) Stagnaro, Sr. Growing up in the Excelsior District, he attended neighborho­od public schools and graduated from Balboa High School. Following graduation, Angelo was inducted into the army and proudly served during the Korean War. Upon completion of his service, he returned to San Francisco to work along-side his father and uncle as a nurseryman in the family-owned business, Oneida Nursery. In 1958, Angelo married the love of his life, Rita Ann (Howard) Stagnaro and bought a home in South San Francisco, where he raised two loving daughters and enjoyed 53 years of marriage. After selling his business, he enjoyed many successes as a store manager in the floral industry, however eventually found his true passion and calling as President and General Manager of the San Francisco Flower Growers Associatio­n- SF Flower Mart.

Angelo was an extremely strong, kind and quickwitte­d man, who was known for his great patience and wisdom. He enjoyed dining and socializin­g with lifelong friends, traveling the world with his wife, and taking care of his “baby” a 1995 brown, Brougham Cadillac. He was a lifelong member of the Elks Club and served over 30 years as secretary of the Florist Club. Angelo was someone that you could always rely on no matter what. He was a wonderful man who was much loved and will be greatly missed.

Angelo is predecease­d by his wife, Rita Ann Stagnaro. He was the beloved father of Rina Klabo and Rhonda Stagnaro Low; brother to Jeanette Wagster; father-inlaw to Tim Klabo and Wilson Low, and the much loved grandfathe­r of Trevor and Lauren Klabo.

Funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at All Souls Church, 315 Walnut Ave. (at Miller Ave.), South San Francisco, CA, 94080. Private interment for the family members only.

Flowers may be sent to All Souls Church the day of the funeral mass only.
