-

Passed away on April 8, 2015 from complications of a stroke. He was 72.

Peter was born on February 28, 1943 in San Francisco to Dr. Benton and Sally Greene Mathews Legge. Peter’s early years were spent in St. Francis Woods until the family moved to their newly built home on the Belvedere lagoon. Peter graduated from Redwood High School, attended Lewis & Clark College and graduated with a chemistry degree from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. Peter earned his dental degree in 1969 from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, Nashville, TN.

In 1969 Peter opened his first dental office at 450 Sutter in San Francisco and in 1977 he began his second practice in Tiburon. He served his community through his work and the kindness to his patients, many of whom became life long friends. Peter practiced cosmetic dentistry until 2000 when he had to retire due to suffering his first stroke.

Peter married Leslie Davis, whom he loved and adored. Together they raised two sons, Ryan and Jeff, in Belvedere and Tiburon. His sons were his greatest joys. Peter loved to travel and took his family around the world to experience the cultures of numerous countries. A favorite destination was to the family cabin at Pinecrest where friends and family enjoyed skiing, sailing, hiking and relaxing.

Peter was past president of the Belvedere-Tiburon Rotary Club, member of the San Francisco and Marin County Dental Societies and a 38-year member of The San Francisco Yacht Club.

A charismatic man, Peter had a penchant for finding light in dark situations. All who knew him enjoyed his wit and admired his keen intellect. He was a man of many talents. Peter provided his family a life with few worries and unquestionable strength and love.

Peter is survived by his wife, Leslie, and his two sons Ryan and Jeff (Sylvia); his three brothers: Steve (Marcie) Auburn, CA, Bill (Joy) Denver, CO and Joe (Libuse) Seattle, WA and brother-in-law, Robert Bassett, Jr., Redwood City and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
