James Joseph Bruno, age 76, of Tiburon, CA passed away, Thursday, June 11, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Antonette, two sons and their spouses: Paul Bruno and Char Dubinsky, Michael and DeeAnn Bruno, three grandsons: Puck Dubinsky-Bruno, Jonathan Bruno, Joseph Bruno, his sister and brother-inlaw Lorraine and Ralph DelPrete, her son, Danny Nielson, and numerous nieces, nephews, greatnieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Dora Bruno.

Jimmy was born in San Francisco on April 3, 1939, and graduated from Cappuccino High School. Afterward he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for three years. After the Navy he officially went to work for his father at the family business: Standard Sheet Metal, and was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union 104 for 55 years until his retirement 3 years ago, handing the business over to his youngest son, Michael.

When not working from the wee hours of the morning until late at night, Jimmy found time to be a member of San Rafael Elks Club and Italian Athletic Club of Marin. He enjoyed going on cruises with his wife, was an avid Pedro player, played Bocce regularly, could count to 15 faster than anyone while playing Cribbage, made a great Santa Claus at the annual Bruno Family Christmas Eve party, and loved nothing better than watching his three grandsons play (when they weren’t too loud.)

The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and especially the health care workers: Whilma, Leilaine, Lavone, Zenaida, and Concepcion, who assisted James in the last few years of his life.

From 4 – 8pm on Wednesday, June 17 a wake will be held at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael. A funeral mass will be held at St. Hilary’s Church in Tiburon at 12pm on Thursday, June 18, reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in be made in his name to the National Kidney Foundation.
