Dorine passed away peacefully in the afternoon at Alma Via of San Rafael marking the end of an era. A native Californian, she was born and raised in Pomona.

After graduation from high school, Dorine attended UCLA, majoring in business. Next, she began a life long professional career in the field of aviation insurance, a career that culminated in 40 years of outstanding service to the industry. Highly respected by her peers and corporate clients, Dorine became one of three women in the U.S. to become an aviation insurance expert. She retired as a Vice President at Johnson & Higgins of California, Inc. after 22 years with the firm.

Upon retiring, Dorine became a volunteer at Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael. She is fondly remembered by friends and associates for her extraordinary gift of 15 years of service, working full time in the Volunteer Dept. Dorine was honored with the Betty Krahl Spirit of Volunteerism Award in 2008.

An avid sports enthusiast, Dorine enjoyed watching and playing golf, rooting for her UCLA Alma Mater’s football team, the SF 49ers and Giants. Photography was a favorite hobby and many friends enjoyed her fine cooking and wine selections. She loved to read, listen to music and traveling to Carmel was often her get-away of choice.

Dorine was preceded in death in 2013 by her long time beloved and devoted friend, Mart Rosamond with whom she shared 53 years of her life. Services will be held privately at Mt. View Cemetery in Oakland. A gift of remembrance can be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind, San Rafael. Monte’s Chapel of the Hills
