Born in Portland, OR, on March 12, 1934, he shared the same birthday with his father, David S. Tucker Sr. He grew up in Oakland, CA where he graduated from Castlemont High School in 1952, and moved to Napa, CA 16 years ago. In 1959, he began a 54-year career in the financial services industry, following three years of employment with the Southern California Gas Co. in Los Angeles, CA. He was employed by Cruttenden, Podesta & Co. from 1959-1963, Walston & Co. from 1963-1974 and Sutro & Co., now RBC Wealth Management from 1974 to 2013 where he formed the Tucker Group with his father, and later his son David S. Tucker III. He attended Oregon State University where he played football for a season, graduated from Reedley Junior College (where he met the love of his life, Anna May (Ann) Musson, they were married on December 19, 1954), California State University, Chico with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and attended University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Business. He was a long time member of the RBC Wealth Management Chairman’s Council and a ten-year member of Sutro & Co. Board of Directors. He was very involved in the local community: former director of the Marcus A. Foster Educational Institute, member of the San Francisco Bond Club, Yerba Buena Lodge, Scottish Rite, Metropolitan Club, Sequoyah Country Club, Napa Valley Country Club, and an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Oakland. He was also former Director of the Oakland Redevelopment Agency 1970-1971, Community Action Agency of the City of Oakland 19721973, and past president of the Association of California Urban School Districts and the Alameda County School Boards Association. He served 14 years on the Oakland Board of Education from 1971-1985 and was also an Oakland mayoral candidate in 1977.

He deeply valued the close relationship shared with his own father, whether in the investment business, duck hunting, fly fishing, or a love for travel. His wisdom, determination, strong character, quick wit, and devotion to his family and friends, impacted all those who were privileged to know him. He will be deeply missed by all of us. The family would like to give special thanks to his entire medical team, along with Mele and Andy for their loving care of both David and Ann since February, 2015. A service celebrating his life is planned for Sunday, September 6 at 2 PM at Community Presbyterian Church in Danville, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a favorite charity.
