Gary spent his early years in the Fresno, California area moving to Menlo Park in the 1950’s and later to Redwood City. He graduated from Menlo Atherton High School in 1954 and joined the Marines in 1955 where he pursued his love of mechanics in the AirWing Division. In 1961 Gary joined the Menlo Park Fire Protection District. After a career extending 30 years, he retired in 1991 at the rank of Captain. In retirement, he was an entrepreneur and established SCBA Safety Check, Inc., retiring in 2005.,

Gary was a devoted father and grandfather who taught all his children and many others how to water ski. His love of fast things led to the building of several boats, which paved way to the many summers, long lasting friendships, and memories at Lake Berryessa. His generous nature always welcomed anyone and everyone into his home or his trailer, many of them coming for his vast amount of mechanical knowledge. He was also an avid golfer, a 49er faithful, attending many games and enjoyed trips to Palm Springs with dear friends. His friends and family meant the world to him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Special thanks to the Gordon Manor family who cared for Gary so lovingly in his last years.
