Peter DeJesus
December 4, 1922 – August 26, 2015
On August 26, 2015, Peter DeJesus, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at his home. He was 92 years young.
Peter shared his home with a legion of family, friends and strays. His adventures took him through several marriages, including, Maria DeJesus, (deceased); and is survived by his wife of 29 years, Virginia (Desi) Plowman- DeJesus. Proud father of 14 children, 53 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren and 8 great, great, grandchildren.
As a merchant marine, he sailed from his birth place, Oahu Hawaii, to many ports. Peter was a retired longshoreman, a proud member of ILWU, Local 10 and was active in the Puerto Rican community.
Visitation for family will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2; and a memorial tribute for friends and family will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, at Valente? Marini Perata &Co., 4840 Mission St., San Francisco. A mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 4, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1200 Florida St., San Francisco with the committal to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1500 Old Mission Road, Colma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Western Region Puerto Rican Council, Inc., Scholarship Fund at www.wrprc.org or to the San Francisco SPCA at www.sfspca.org
