Carolyn Ann Coppock Eriksson-Ey

It is with bittersweet feelings that the family and friends of Carolyn Ann Coppock Eriksson-Ey say goodbye to her, so she can be joyfully welcomed by her departed, sweet husband Christian Kane Ey; her mother and father, Florence and Erick Erickson; beloved brother-in-law Richard Freeman; lifelong friend Veronica McCarthy; and many others. After a long battle with breast cancer, Carolyn peacefully passed away at home, at age 73.

Carolyn is survived by her loving sisters Kathleen (Graham) Forder and Susan Erickson; her cherished children: John Coppock, Karen Coppock (Brian Schmidt), and Megan (Dave) Gosch and their father (Keith Coppock); her dear niece and nephew Corinne and Lyle Daniel as well as by her adored grandsons Zach and Cooper Coppock, Devin Moriarty, and Jeremy and Markus Gosch. She is also survived by her cousins, Aunt Mary Caradeuc and many others also united with her by love and marriage.

Carolyn was a lifelong, third-generation California resident with a continuous passion in a broad variety of intellectual interests ranging from funny trivia to foundational historical events. A serial entrepreneur, Carolyn founded and sold two successful businesses and demonstrated to her children that they could be anything they wanted to be in life. Married to that intellectual interest was her profound commitment to the Catholic faith, seen in just one example in her pilgrimage with her friend Barbara to celebrate Mass in every Catholic church in San Francisco. She was a driving force behind many reunions of her St. John Ursuline class of 1959 high school friends and was proud of her Swedish heritage and deep connection with her extended family in Scandinavia that she and her dear cousin, Duane, visited during many occasions. The role she loved the most, and excelled at, was the family matriarch – everyone’s cheerleader, supporter, and loving guide for multiple generations.

Mind, faith, and family united who Carolyn was, and although taken from us far too soon and too young, who she was remains alive in our memories, and the soul that she still is remains a source of comfort and joy until we see her again.

Services will be held at 2pm on 9/25/15 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 1 Notre Dame Ave in San Mateo, CA. Reception to follow at 1108 Palm Ave, San Mateo, CA 94401.

In memory donations can be made at one of two charities she supported: Larkin Street Youth Services, http://larkinstreetyouth.org/, 701 Sutter St, Suite 2, SF, CA 94019; St. Anthony Dining Room, http://www.stanthonysf.org/DiningRoom/, 150 Golden Gate Ave, SF 94102.
