Manning stays home

Peyton Manning is staying back in Denver when the Broncos travel to Chicago this weekend so he can continue getting treatment on a variety of ailments. He has company in DeMarcus Ware, who’s staying behind to rehab his bad back.

“You can go out there and sit in the cold, or you can get two extra days of treatment to speed up your recovery,” Ware said. “So, that’s what we’re doing.”

Excused from meetings and practices this week so he could concentrat­e on getting healthy, Manning made a cameo appearance at Friday’s practice and watched Brock Osweiler get ready for his first NFL start.

Manning hasn’t made an appearance in the locker room during the media access time since Monday. Briefly: The Jets activated wide receiver Quincy Enunwa, adding him to the roster from the suspended list after he completed his four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Enunwa, who has eight catches for 94 yards, is expected to play against the Texans. ... Packers safety Micah Hyde was upgraded to probable on the Packers’ injury report for Sunday’s game at Minnesota, while cornerback Damarious Randall’s availabili­ty is now in question because of a hamstring injury. ... Bills coach Rex Ryan says there’s a 50-50 chance defensive tackle Kyle Williams could miss the rest of the season because of a left knee injury.
