KNUCKLEHEAD OF THE WEEK

The people putting together Super Bowl City, to be erected on lower Market Street, asked the city of San Francisco to take down a few blocks of overhead lines that power Muni buses and trolleys.

Why? To provide better feng shui for the corporate fat-cat fun fest that will spring to life the week before the big game.

The city said no, possibly because the take-down would have inconvenienced thousands of Muni riders for several weeks. But the request itself was an indicator of the let-them-eat-cake mentality of the VVIPs who will be invading. And it was a helpful status check for local working-class shlubs, who may have mistakenly believed that the Super Bowl was for them, too.
