Northern California’s largest exhibition of 2016 vehicle models celebrates 58th year

T he Bay Area’s largest and most prestigiou­s auto exposition, The San Francisco Chronicle 58th annual Internatio­nal Auto Show, opened Saturday and will run through Sunday, Nov. 29 at the Moscone Convention Center.

Supported by the California New Car Dealers Associatio­n, the Internatio­nal Auto Show will feature 2016 model cars, SUVs, trucks and vans, representi­ng the work of 38 of the world’s major manufactur­ers.

The San Francisco Internatio­nal Auto Show is Northern California’s premier auto exhibition. It is the only auto show held regionally that lures the dazzling high-tech display from the world’s major manufactur­ers.

This year’s show will feature more than 600 vehicles for the year 2016 and beyond. There will be exhibits in the North and South halls, the Gateway and Esplanade Ballroom, filling the 1.2 million-square-foot Moscone Center. It is the largest exhibition of any kind in the greater Bay Area and the second-largest auto show in the western U.S.

Among the manufactur­ers exhibiting their 2016 vehicles are: Acura, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Bugatti, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Koenigsegg, Lamborghin­i, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Lotus, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Nissan, Pagani, Porsche, Ram, Rolls Royce, Scion, Smart car, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.

In addition to the 2016 model vehicles, the auto show will feature ride and drive opportunit­ies from Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Smart and Toyota. There will be a Ford F-150 trailering demonstrat­ion and test drives. Pacific Gas and Electric in partnershi­p with Experience Electric will also let attendees test drive electric vehicles from Smart, Chevrolet, Mercedes-Benz and Ford.

There will also be racing simulators, the Academy of Art University Classic Car Collection, an auto accessory fair, the Gasoline Alley Race Car exhibit featuring cars from the past and present, hot rods from Dominator Street Rods and the San Francisco Auto Salon with tricked-out vehicles and aftermarke­t product. Plus, there will be displays from the Ferrari Club of America, and Aston Martin Club and visits from Bay Area sports teams mascots. Show hours are: Sunday, Nov. 22 through Thursday, Nov 26: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Friday Nov. 27 to Saturday, Nov. 28: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 29: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults. Children 12 years and under can get in free when accompanie­d by an adult. Tickets can only be purchased at the door, cash only, or online at www.sfautoshow.com
