Bernice Marie O’Rourke Hiller (nee Sammon)

Died Thursday, November 19th after an arduous fifteen year battle with Alzheimer’s. Bernice was born in San Francisco on January 31, 1931. She married James E. O’Rourke, with whom she had 4 children. Widowed in 1974, Bernice remarried Wilfred Emanuel Hiller (Jerry) in 1976. Bernice was a homemaker and realtor for Highsmith Realtors in San Bruno and loved traveling, making porcelain dolls, and spending time with her children and grandchild­ren. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry, her devoted brother James Sammon and his wife Kathy, her loving daughters and son-in-laws, Maureen and John O’Keefe, Colleen and Ron Lavezzo, Linda O’Rourke, Mary and Jim Sullivan, and 12 adoring grandchild­ren: Erin, Cristin and Breandan O’Keefe, Gino, Giorgio, and Caitlin Lavezzo, Jamie, Carly, and Katie Cologna and Liam, Megan, and Quinn Sullivan, and great-grandson Kingston.

A funeral service and viewing for Bernice O’Rourke Hiller will be held on Tuesday November 24 at the Chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. The viewing is at 10:30, with the service following at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n at www.alz.org.
