Joan McIntyre (Frisbie) Neff

May 18, 1929 - Nov. 2, 2015

-

One of San Francisco’s native daughters, Joan (Joanne) is the only child of Sophia Josephine McIntyre, one of the first woman dentists in California, and Harry Earl Frisbie, San Francisco dentist and teacher at UC Berkeley.

She graduated from Lowell High School as a Senior Class Vice President in 1947. She graduated from Stanford with a major in Chemistry, married her Lowell Senior Class President, Bill Neff, and started a family. Later, at a class reunion, Bill wrote “married the prettiest girl in my class.”

After lovingly raising her family, son Hal, daughters Susan, Janet, and Tris, she went to work in the Chemistry Department at San Francisco State University. Joan was a fifty-year member of the League of Women Voters and a past president of the North San Mateo chapter.

Family was her passion, but she loved traveling, musical plays, detective stories, badminton, and swimming. She was very good at card games.

In Loving memory, Hugs and Kisses Forever...
