Kevin Patrick Richardson

Sept. 11, 1963 - Nov. 17, 2015

-

Our brother was a man who faced life with faith and optimism. He was the beloved son of the late Richard (Dick) and Margaret (Peg) Richardson; irreplaceable brother of Linda Barbero, Susan Richardson Kelly, Patricia Richardson Liddle, Maureen Cook, and Brian Richardson; loving uncle of Nicole and Mark Barbero, Sean Kelly, and Katie, Joseph, and John (Lucky) Cook; warm-hearted brother-in-law to Bob Barbero, Jeff Kelly, Libby Richardson, and Will Cook; cherished nephew of John and Kay Richardson, Mary Richardson, Teresa and Bill Murphy, the late Ed and Eileen Freiling, Msgr. Bernard Moran, Jayne Richardson, and Timothy and LaVerne Richardson; and more than just a cousin to the Murphy and Freiling families, and to the late Bruce Richardson.

A true San Francisco native, Kevin was a lifelong resident, where he was an active member of St. Gabriel’s Parish. He, along with his brother Brian, cousin Bill, and close friends and classmates, shared many good times in the Sunset/Parkside area, with many stories to recount of their adventures. Kevin loved to be on the move, whether biking, skateboarding, running, skiing, painting or drawing, visiting museums, building models, attending Giants or 49ers games, singing, or engaging in any of his other many hobbies. Kevin prided himself on his knowledge of the many neighborhoods of San Francisco, and loved to share his treasured spots with others. He enjoyed traveling abroad and would become fully immersed in the art, culture, and history of every city he visited. Kevin shared his father’s passion for restoring collectible automobiles and racing, and when they were not working on the cars, they were likely to be attending car events, planning their next car project, or talking cars with their close friends.

Throughout his life, Kevin demonstrated great compassion and caring for his family and friends. He was a devoted son, brother, and uncle who shared a unique and special connection with each member of his family. He treasured every moment spent with his family and friends. They will miss his spontaneous wit and honesty, his appreciation and enthusiasm for life’s simple pleasures, his inner strength and determination, and his generous and loving heart.

We invite you to share in a celebration of his life starting with a visitation on Sunday, Nov. 22nd at 2:30pm, followed by a vigil service at 3:00pm at St. Gabriel Catholic Church , 2559-40th Avenue, San Francisco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 23rd at 11:00am at St. Gabriel Church, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. In lieu of flowers we encourage you to make a donation to the American Cancer Society or the American Mental Health Foundation.
