Equal time for also-rans
Donald Trump’s stint as host on “Saturday Night Live” entitles his primary opponents to petition for equal time — 12 minutes and five seconds, according to NBC. (After Hillary Rodham Clinton was in an “SNL” skit, Harvard Law School Professor Larry Lessig, a lesser-known rival, petitioned for equal time. But he dropped out of the Democratic primary before he had his chance in the NBC spotlight.) Now Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and former New York Gov. George Pataki have filed requests for equal time on NBC. According to CNN media correspondent Brian Stelter, “Qualified rivals are entitled to an equivalent amount of air time, although not an equivalent invite to host ‘SNL.’ ” I think “SNL” should take advantage of the free talent, and recycle the Trump skits — show Kasich dancing to Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” Pataki playing the laser harp, and Graham mugging in a porno parody.
