Kidd likens Curry to Jordan

MILWAUKEE — Jason Kidd was a 10-time NBA All-Star who finished his career ranked among the top five in assists (12,091), steals (2,684), three-pointers (1,988) and minutes (50,111).

So, when he talks about point guards, people listen.

Before Saturday’s game, Kidd, now the Milwaukee head coach, talked about Warriors point guard Stephen Curry.

“He’s our modern-day (Michael) Jordan, in the sense that when we were growing up, we all wanted to be like Mike,” Kidd said. “This younger generation will see Steph playing at a very high level — not only one year, but hopefully for the next five or six years. He’s young and still has a lot to give to the game.” The bee’s knees: Warriors swingman Andre Iguodala played Saturday, a night after logging a season-high 44 minutes in a double-overtime victory against the Celtics. He has played in every game this season, after missing five for precautionary rest in 2014-15.

The 31-year-old hadn’t played 44 minutes in a game since Feb. 22, 2014, and hadn’t played the second game of a back-to-back set after logging 40 minutes in the first game since Nov. 9, 2013.

But Iguodala said it feels like old times. He doesn’t have the nagging pain from knee tendinitis that he’s had the past several seasons, and it’s showing up in his game.

Iguodala is averaging 7.9 points, 5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.5 steals. He is shooting 49.7 percent from the field and 40.3 percent from three-point range. Entering Saturday, he was fourth in the NBA with an average plus-minus of 10.7.

“I think it speaks to how much he takes care of himself,” Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton said. “He was over in Germany this summer getting work done (platelet-rich plasma treatments) with (head athletic trainer) Drew Yoder.

“He was coming off a championship. He could have been on a beach in Miami. But he wanted to make sure his body was healthy to try to do it again. He’s done an amazing job of taking care of himself. He’s cognizant of his diet, sleep, everything.”
