Grevers, Franklin set pool records

Matt Grevers set a world record in the 100-meter backstroke, Missy Franklin broke the American record in the 200 freestyle and the U.S. pulled away from the European All-Stars for a 155-107 victory at the Duel in the Pool in Indianapol­is.

It was a banner day for the Americans, who broke national records in eight of the first 11 races and clinched their seventh straight win in the event with four races left.

Grevers won the 100 back in 48.92 seconds, breaking Nick Thoman’s previous mark of 48.94 set in 2009.

Franklin won the 200 free in 1:52.74, barely holding off Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu, who set three U.S. Open records Friday and another Saturday. Skiing: Olympic slalom champion Mikaela Shiffrin is going home to the United States for medical care after injuring her right knee while warming up for a World Cup giant slalom in Are, Sweden.

“I am flying home tomorrow for a complete evaluation. I have at least MCL (medial collateral ligament) injury and bone bruising, hopefully no additional injury. Full diagnosis and recovery prediction­s after I’ll see a doctor at home,” Shiffrin wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

Shiffrin crashed during a free skiing session on the competitio­n hill and missed Saturday’s race, which American Lindsey Vonn won for her fourth consecutiv­e victory. Golf: Jason Dufner and Brandt Snedeker birdied the last two holes in a best-ball format and won the Franklin Templeton Shootout by two shots in Naples, Fla. The team of Dufner and Snedeker finished at 30under 186 at Tiburon Golf Club.

Harris English and Matt Kuchar, who have finished first, second and second the past three years, shot 28-under for second.

Vijay and Qass Singh eagled the par-5 18th hole for a 13under 59 and a two-stroke lead at the PNC Father/Son Challenge scramble in Orlando.

Clement Sordet of France shot a 9-under-par 63 to steal the lead from Jamie Donaldson of Wales by two strokes after the third round of the Thailand Golf Championsh­ip.
