Georgia Flora Dalikas

-

Passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 after a battle with cancer at the age of 40. She was surrounded by beloved family and friends.

She is survived by her mother Kathy Lampros; husband Chris; son Konstantine, and brother John and his family.

Georgia was born in San Francisco at Moffitt hospital and was raised in San Francisco until her family settled in Millbrae in 1985. She graduated from Mills High School in Millbrae in 1993 and attended the University of California Santa Cruz and received her undergraduate degree in Psychology in 1997. Of course she had to get involved in school activities! During college she joined a sorority and became a Phi Beta Kappa sister. She earned a Masters degree in Education and teaching credential from UC Santa Cruz in 1999. The MA teaching program emphasized teaching linguistically and culturally diverse children, which prepared her for teaching students from low economic backgrounds and those who were not fluent in English. Georgia followed her passion of helping mold young minds, and her training had qualified her to teach academic content standards and English simultaneously.

She had been a teacher for 18 years, spending her first year at Bishop Elementary School in Sunnyvale, then four years at Kids Connection School in Foster City, followed by one year at Allen Elementary in San Bruno, and then 12 years at Portola Elementary School in San Bruno. Throughout her teaching career she taught the 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th grades. Over the years as a teacher she met some of her closest friends, many of whom were with her in her final hours.

She married the love of her life, Chris six years ago, and a year later they had their beautiful son Konstantine. He was the most important person in her life, her whole world. Family meant everything to Georgia and she cherished them.

She loved to travel. When learning about her diagnosis, she spent much time with her boys traveling to beautiful places and creating lasting memories. Their trips are well documented. Georgia enjoyed scrapbooking and putting together photo books of her family and friends on their many travel adventures together and even gave them as gifts. She loved giving to others, especially gifts from the heart. Her generosity and love extended to all those who knew her. She enjoyed sharing her skills with others; sewing, knitting and crocheting beautiful gifts for loved ones.

Georgia loved home improvement and watching all those DIY (do-it-yourself) shows. Good thing she married a contractor! She loved to rearrange the house and improve it in any way. All who knew her know just how incredibly neat and organized she was; everything had its place.

Georgia was the life of the party. She loved to have fun and was always up for anything. She had an adventurous spirit and was a ball of energy, a real Energizer Bunny! In fact, friends said she would wear them out! Anyone who was around her felt her positive energy. She loved throwing parties and having family and friends gathered together. She was a wonderful hostess and she and Chris made everyone feel welcome in their beautiful home. The holidays were her favorite time of the year and always perfect. Let’s not forget about her delicious pumpkin bread she would make on Thanksgiving.

Being Greek Orthodox was an instrumental part of her life. Georgia was very involved in the Greek community taking part in youth activities and Greek dancing. She loved the church; growing up at Annunciation and later becoming part of Ascension Cathedral.

Georgia appreciated the great care and love she received from both Kaiser Oncology and UCSF Health Care Professionals. They gave her support and strength throughout her battle with cancer.

To celebrate her life, a Trisagion will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 7pm. It will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on 999 Brotherhood Way, San Francisco.

The Funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 11 am at Holy Trinity, with interment to follow at Greek Orthodox Memorial Park on 1148 El Camino Real, Colma. The Makaria/ Luncheon will be held after the interment, in the Holy Trinity Hall. If you would like to send flowers please send them to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
