Mary A Gilbert

-

Passed away peacefully on 12/3/15 to join husband Alden W. Gilbert who pre deceased her in 2013. Born in San Francisco 9/8/1921 to Delphina Hernandez Moriones and Luciano Moriones. Adored mother of Julia McClintock and Ronald A Gilbert. Cherished grandmother of Michael A Gilbert. Pre deceased by brother Charles Moriones. Beloved by many cousins, nieces and nephews including cousin/dearest friend Mary Mitchell and niece Cheri Gorini.

Raised in a large extended family Mary’s childhood was filled with family and family friends. She enjoyed her years at Balboa High and many happy memories came from the time she spent on Treasure Island working at the World’s Fair, the Golden Gate International Exposition of 1939. Later she found herself enjoying the wisdom of co workers she met while working for the Office of Censorship during World War II. Mary won the heart of and lasting love of Alden, the soldier she met at the Carousel Ballroom and married in 1943. Together they built a beautiful life for their children and happily welcomed all their friends and pets. The birth of their grandson completed the joy of family life that meant so much to them. Through most of these years Mary worked for Sala and Sala Real Estate and later Anchor Realty. She loved her years in these family environments that allowed her to put her children’s needs first, as was her stated top priority. Her co workers always knew to inform Mary when the caller asked to speak to mom. We will always love you, mom.

Private services were held on Tuesday, 12/8/2015 at Duggan’s Mortuary followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family requests that any donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
