Donald Steven Cvietusa

June 14, 1933 - October 27, 2015

Danville resident Don Cvietusa passed away after a nine year battle with congestive heart failure. A man of gentleness and humility, Don’s first love was his family. Whether spending time over family meals or watching his grandsons play football, Don adored his family and took pride their accomplishments. He is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 56 years, three children; Peter Cvietusa (Debbie) of Denver, Kim Gilbert (Gale) of Austin, and Dayna Coulter (Greg) of Austin, and 6 grandchildren; Audrey, Miles(Peter’s), Garrett, Griffin,(Kim’s), and Hailey, Jackson,( Dayna’s). Don graduated in 1951from Acalanes High school, where he was Student Body President. He earned an undergraduate degree from Cal, Berkeley in 1955 while thoroughly enjoying fraternity life as a Sigma Nu and making lifelong friends. In 1957, he earned his MBA from Cal.

Don enjoyed a 30 year career with Bank of America where he was an executive Vice President. Upon “retirement,” he joined Silicon Valley Bank in Menlo Park. An exciting finale to a successful career, Don loved the energy of the Venture Group. His insight and contributions to a variety of start-up companies earned Don the respect and appreciation of his colleagues.

During his lifetime, Don explored the world with his wife and friends; he loved sailing in the San Francisco Bay and fishing off the coast of Mexico. Closer to home, Don enjoyed tennis, golf, hiking, snorkeling and taking pictures of home grown flowers. He was a member of SIRS and loved volunteering at San Ramon Regional Hospital.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Don will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American Heart Assoc. at P.O.
