Joan M. Waters

-

On November 25, our beloved mother, Joan Marie Waters, passed peacefully in the wee hours, surrounded by family and friends. During the preceding day, she softly called to Richard, her husband of 58 years, “I am coming.” We are sure that he was waiting for her at heaven’s gate in a sports car: top down.

After Richard passed in February, Joanie wasn’t quite the same. In September she happily celebrated her 80th birthday with family before soon learning of her illness, entering the care of hospice, and living her last days in her cherished home – exactly as she wished.

Joanie was a proud San Franciscan, graduate of St. Rose Academy and Lone Mountain/USF, and had a successful 50+ year career as a mother and artist. She leaves three treasured children: Patrick, Michael, and Jennifer Boesel, their spouses: Danelle, Yurexi, and Dave, three wonderful grandchildren: Aaron, Charlotte, and Willie, and Misty, her faithful Australian Shepard. Joanie was a woman of many passions: a remarkable artist, devoted reader, Olympian swimmer, and dedicated chef who conjured many magical dishes for family and friends. She prized her Italian heritage and her favorite pastime was being at home, watching the boats go by and the tides ebb and flow.

Joanie is thankful to her many friends, Hospice by the Bay, and caretakers Taka, Leia, and Katherine.

In accordance with Joanie’s wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life for friends at her home in Larkspur on December 19 from 12:30-3:30 PM. In the name of Joanie and Misty, donations are respectfully requested for the Humane Society.
