AN EXPERIENCE TO SHARE

Enjoy ODYSSEO by Cavalia with friends and family this holiday season.

-

Bay Area audiences are celebrating the holidays at Odysseo, the enchanting new production from Cavalia that takes its audiences on a journey through some of the world’s most iconic landscapes. It’s a magical combination of magnificent horses and high tech that stirs the senses as it warms the heart and it’s under the White Big Top next to AT&T Park right now.

There are matinee and evening performances scheduled through January 10.

Inside Odysseo’s massive tent, families, friends and office parties experience the soul-deep connection between horses and humans, revealed by the mutual respect and love that is so evident on stage. It’s a relationship with horses that is a revelation to many in the audience who are seeing this age-old bond for the first time. For those who cherish their own horses, the performance celebrates a treasured relationship. Odysseo never fails to leave an unforgettable impression.

A young girl with stars in her eyes watches the elegant horses and imagines one day riding a horse just like that. Her grandmother, holding her hand, is reminded of her childhood rides as her eyes follow the horses wandering the forest on stage. A group of friends gasp in unison at the daring trick riders, whoop at the jumping stilt performers, and sigh at the bond between the liberty horses and their people. Even strangers of all ages sitting across the aisle share a glance and smile, recognizing each other’s enjoyment of the performance.

Odysseo touches the heart and nourishes the soul. From Odysseo’s opening scene in a misty, enchanted forest, the audience travels with the horses and riders, acrobats and musicians, on a soul-stirring journey from the Mongolian steppes to Monument Valley, from the African savannah to Nordic glaciers, from the Sahara to Easter Island. As scenery shifts, it is possible to feel the seasons change.

At the heart of this journey is the ancient relationship between humans and horses. In its soul are the patience, trust and ingrained respect for horses that creates an environment where the horses enjoy training as well as performing on stage. With 65 horses and 45 performers, there is no limit to the combinations of horse and human experience. Horses include Arabians, Spanish, and Quarter Horses, among others. Performers from 11 countries include riders, aerialists, ground based acrobats, musicians and more.

The world’s largest touring production, Odysseo pushes the limits of live entertainment through a synergy of equestrian arts, stage arts and high tech theatrical effects under the world’s largest traveling big top, which covers as much ground as a football field and comfortably contains a three story mountain and an actual lake on stage, as well as spacious seating for an audience of 2,000.

A world away from the stress of who’s coming to holiday dinners, how to get all the shopping done, and what about that work deadline, Odysseo is a gift in itself. It’s a time to share beauty and joy, a time to treasure with friends and family, a time to create memories that last a lifetime.
