Elizabeth “Betty” Mary O’Connor

-

Passed away peacefully on March 15, 2016, at the age of 78. Beloved wife of the late Thomas O’Connor, loving mother of Ellen ( Bill) Teahan and Dymphna ( Leo) McFadden. Adoring grandma to Ryan, Liam and Katie.

Betty was born September 27, 1937 in County Kerry Ireland. Her parents were Mai and Patrick Casey, and she was one of seven children ( Christina, Margaret, Francis, Phil, Sheila and Anne).

Betty was sponsored by her late uncle, Monsignor James Casey, who brought her out West to Shasta in Northern California. Not long after, her beau from the old country came following, and Monsignor Casey married them. Tom and Betty settled in San Francisco.

Betty was proud to become a US Citizen, and she graduated from San Francisco State. She taught at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help School for over 30 years where she spent some of her happiest days in her parish. A proud Kerry woman, she was always ready to help out at the local feis, parade or party with her creativity and talents for sewing, embroidering and crocheting. She was well known for her annual Christmas Eve open house that went on into the wee hours. She was also a licensed beautician who always opened her kitchen to do all of her neighbor’s haircuts and latest styles. We will all miss her warm country smile and fun- loving nature.

Friends may visit Sunday, March 20, 2016, from 3pm to 9pm at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City, CA, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7 pm.
