S.F.’s rainbow of love will shine all the way to Orlando
Nothing is going to put a damper on San Francisco’s Pride celebration, one of the biggest events of its kind in the country. This year’s parade and parties are expected to draw an estimated 1 million people, and while there will most certainly be enhanced security measures in place following the massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando, you can count on the city to revel with more joy, vibrancy and laughter than ever.
Last year, the community celebrated marriage equality; this year, it will be resilience. The LGBT Pride Celebration on Saturday, June 25, takes place at Civic Center Plaza and features more than a dozen stages of entertainment by the likes of Jessica Sutta, AB Soto, JES, Shaun J. Wright and Dai Burger.
The fun continues on Sunday, June 26, as hundreds of thousands of people line Market Street to cheer, dance and wave the rainbow flag as floats representing 200 contingents roll by. Then it’s back to the Civic Center Plaza for a festival with even more live performances, featuring Peaches, Psychic TV, Hector Fonseca, Breathless and more.
