Jillian Sullivan Linn, 28, of San Francisco, formerly of Roanoke, VA, passed away tragically on Sunday, July 10, 2016. She was born in Cincinnati, OH, on November 11, 1987, where she spent most of the first 8 years of her life. She then moved with her family to Roanoke, VA, where she finished elementary school (Penn Forest and Cave Spring Middle) and graduated from Cave Spring High school in 2006. At Cave Spring, she earned honors as a student and an athlete. She was an honor roll student. She also earned all-state honors as a pitcher for the softball team which won region III titles in 2005 and 2006, and she was a member of the 2003 state champion volleyball team.

Jillian then went on to Virginia Tech where she graduated cum laude with a BA in communicat­ions. While at Tech, she made many strong friendship­s and met the love of her life and future husband, Logan Linn. She followed Logan to San Francisco where he worked as a software engineer. Jillian joined the San Francisco Chronicle, where she held several roles over the past years. She enjoyed writing and wrote a number of articles covering businesses in the Bay Area. Most recently she was growing her digital skills and became one of the producers for www.SFChronicl­e.com, the premium site of the Chronicle.

Jillian and Logan were married in September 2014 at the University Club of San Francisco and lived just a few blocks from there. Jillian was a vibrant, cheerful young woman who brought joy to many people, whether she knew them for years or just a few minutes.

She is survived by her husband, Logan Linn. Also her sister, Rachel (Cincinnati), her brother, Evan (Kansas City), her parents, Stephen and Dorothy, her grandparen­ts, Peter and Jacqueline McDede (Sarasota, FL) and John and Philomena Sullivan (Greenville, SC).

Jillian’s family will receive friends Saturday, July 23, 2016, from 2 – 4 PM at Oakey’s South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Ave., Roanoke, VA. A service celebratin­g her life will be held at 4 PM, following visitation in Oakey’s Chapel.
