-

September 5, 1931- July 2, 2016

Maureen McInerney, a long time resident of San Francisco, passed peacefully at home on July 2, 2016.

Beloved mother of her four sons: Stephen McInerney of Anacortes Washington, daughter-inlaw Lin and two children Daniel and Nicole; Brian McInerney of Tiburon and son Robert; David McInerney of Los Gatos, daughterin-law Barbara and children Declan and Fiona and Mark McInerney of Redwood City, daughter-in-law Tamara and sons Kevin and Connor.

Maureen is remembered with love by her sisters Theresa, Nuala, Siobhan, Gabrielle, Noirin and brother Patrick, all born in Glenaniff, Leitrim County, Ireland to the late Patrick J. MacGoey and Susan MacGoey,

Maureen had many fond memories of her studies in Dublin and F.C.J. Secondary School in Bunclody, Co. She immigrated to the USA in 1950 where she began her adventures in New York City. After working and exploring in NYC, Houston and Pasadena, she found her way to San Francisco where she met her husband Peter and settled to raise their four sons. Maureen began her career working in radiology, later transitioning into banking, working for American Savings Bank. She loved playing tennis, visiting the museums of San Francisco and walking in it’s parks and beaches. Maureen was a loving, kind and generous grandmother. “Nana” loved attending her grandchildren’s sports games and following their adventures in school and in life.

Family and friends will miss her strength, empathy, wisdom, dry sense of humor and knowing smile. She spent her life loving and caring for her family, friends and the many people she met along the way. In retirement she spent her days making and sharing her famous breads, providing financial advice and home care to the elderly and volunteering at the local YMCA. Maureen was an involved, caring and valuable member of her community and will be dearly missed.

Services will be held on July 30th at 10:30am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in San Francisco followed by a Memorial at the Saint Francis Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Maureen McInerney to St. Cecilia Church in San Francisco.
