James “Jim” Frederick Martin, 64, of Fairfax, California passed away suddenly on June 23, 2016. Born in Los Angeles on December 14, 1951, Jim was the son of Robert Wilbur Martin + Jane Carmen Martin (nee Darrow).

Raised in southern California, Jim attended John Muir and Blair High School in Pasadena, UCLA and Cal State Northridge. He lived In Pasadena, Atlanta, San Francisco and eventually Marin County including Mill Valley, Sausalito, and Fairfax for the last 16 years.

Jim married Karen Mixon-Martin (nee Mixon) in San Francisco, California on August 17, 1997. They have raised their 13-year old daughter Sophia in Fairfax.

A Certified Treasury Profession­al, Jim’s career spanned over 30 years, beginning as a practition­er in the treasury area of First Nationwide Bank, then transition­ing to the provider side as Vice President in treasury management consulting roles across First Interstate Bank, Ltd., U.S. Bank and Bank of America. His passions were in collecting, sharing and consuming fine wines; cars, music, model trains, and gardening. The light of Jim’s life was his family.

Survived by his wife Karen and daughter Sophia of Fairfax California, and many other family members, colleagues and friends. Predecease­d by his parents and an older brother.

Jim’s life celebratio­n will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 11am through 3pm at St. Rita’s church and hall, 100 Marinda Drive (at Sir Francis Drake), Fairfax, California, 94930. Brief memorial service followed by a Jim-style celebratio­n – all are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts or tie-dye.

Memorial donations may be directed to Wounded Warrior Project or Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. Many thanks to all of who have reached out to the family. We look forward to seeing you on August 6 to celebrate Jim’s life.
