Beatrice Sobol Destin

Beatrice Destin passed away on Friday, July 16, 2016, at age 88. Born in San Francisco, CA she was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Jacob “Jack” Isaac Sobol, and her loving husband Victor Nicholas Destin. Her brother Arthur Bernard Sobol was a casualty of WWII in 1945.

Bea grew up in the Richmond district and graduated George Washington H.S. in 1945 and then earned a BA in Decorative Arts from UC Berkeley in 1949. While at Cal she worked at Livingston Brothers Department Store in San Francisco. After graduating, she worked as an executive secretary for US Steel and then later for the market research firm Dataquest.

In 1955 she met Victor at a Cal / Stanford football game party. The two married a year later and settled in their native San Francisco. They remained married for nearly 58 years. They enjoyed playing tennis, world travel, and attending symphony concerts and operas.

Bea was dearly loved and is survived by her son Arthur and his wife Maureen and their children Sarah, Michael, and Andrew (all of Saratoga); son Richard and his wife Esther Margulies and their children Josiah and Lilia (all of Venice, CA); and daughter Victoria and her husband Daniel Goldberg, and their children Ben and Caroline (all of Pacific Palisades, CA).

The family would like to thank her devoted caregivers at Atria Park of Pacific Palisades and at Familiar Surroundin­gs Home Care of San Jose.

Bea will be interred at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga after a private family service. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Symphony Silicon Valley.
