John Michael Dineen

Age 73, passed away in his home on June 29th, 2016, after a courageous 2 year battle with melanoma.

John is survived by Sarah, his loving wife of 50 years. He is also survived by his adored children: Sean (Renee), Jennifer (Don), Meghan (John), and Brendan. He was Papa to his 6 darling grandchildren: Braeden, Raegan, Andrew, Katelyn, Hannah and Gavin. He was preceded in death by his sister Marietta and his brother Denis, and is survived by his brother Neal and twin sister Anne. John was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather, who took great pleasure spending time with his family.

John was an Air Force Veteran, graduate of the FBI Academy, graduate of Golden Gate University, and enjoyed a 47 year career in law enforcement, retiring as Chief of Police in Millbrae, California in 1992. For 25 years, he was a part time professor in Administration of Justice at Golden Gate University. Once retired from law enforcement and teaching, his latter years were spent working at PORAC and POST in Sacramento.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 15th at St. Joseph Marello Catholic Church, 7200 AuburnFolsom Road in Granite Bay, California, 95746. At a later date, a private family burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in San Mateo, California. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Anthony’s (https://www. stanthonysf.org/).
