Oracle Arena, 7000 Coliseum Way, Oakland. Sept. 24-25. SAP Center, 525 W. Santa Clara St., San Jose. www.ticket master.com
Black Sabbath: With guitarist Tony Iommi’s cancer in remission, the heavy metal overlords are on their last tour ever. No, for real this time — they even called the tour the End. Following one last Northern California stop, the band is set to officially retire from the road with a Feb. 4 set in its hometown of Birmingham, England. Sept. 15. Oracle Arena, 7000 Coliseum Way, Oakland. www.ticketmaster. com
Monterey Jazz Festival: The greatest jazz festival in the world happens in our backyard. There are more than 100 performances planned for its 59th year, including an all-star tribute to Quincy Jones, plus sets by the Wayne Shorter Quartet, Kamasi Washington and Maceo Parker. Sept. 16-18. Monterey County Fairgrounds, 2004 Fairground Road, Monterey. www. montereyjazzfestival.org
Beyoncé: For those who missed the Formation World Tour’s last stop here — or those who were there and simply must experience it again — the twohour spectacle returns to the home of the 49ers to show Beyoncé at her most real. Sept. 17. Levi’s Stadium, 4900 Marie P. DeBartolo Way, Santa Clara. www.ticketmaster. com
Sound Summit: After a five-night run at the Fillmore (Sept. 6-7, 9-11), Wilco heads up to Mount Tamalpais for this one-day concert that also features Los Lobos, Bill Frisell and the Stone Foxes. The streets of Mill Valley will be deserted. Sept. 17. Sidney B. Cushing Memorial Amphitheatre, Ridgecrest Boulevard, Mount Tamalpais State Park. www. soundsummit.net
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass: Chris Isaak, Cyndi Lauper, Mavis Staples, Rosanne Cash, the Mother Hips, Cake, Mary Chapin Carpenter and — hey, they couldn’t do it without her — Lucinda Williams are just some of the 100-plus acts set to appear at the free annual concert in the park. Sept. 30-Oct. 2. Hellman Hollow, Transverse Drive at John F. Kennedy Drive, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. www.hardlystrictlybluegrass.com
Treasure Island: Dust off your parka and earmuffs. The annual festival in the middle of the bay returns for its 10th and what appears to be final year at its namesake location, with headliners Sigur Ros and Ice Cube closing out sets by artists including James Blake, Purity Ring and Glass Animals. Oct. 15-16. Great Lawn, Avenue of the Palms and Sixth Street, Treasure Island, San Francisco. www.treasureislandfestival.com
Sonoma Music Festival: Rock and Roll Hall of Famers John Fogerty and Steve Miller Band join Toby Keith as the headliners for the 30th anniversary of what used to be known as the B.R. Cohn Charity Events Fall Music Festival. The snappier name also comes with a more convenient location (the festival moved from Cohn’s winery in Glen Ellen to the Field of Dreams near downtown Sonoma last year). Oct. 7-9. Field of Dreams, 151 First St. W., Sonoma. www.sonomamusicfestival.com
Van Morrison: The 70year-old singer from Belfast is playing several European festivals and larger American venues in the coming months, including a date at Davies Symphony Hall on Oct. 17. But these SFJazz dates in the venue’s 700-capacity Miner Auditorium will allow fans to get up close with the man who earlier this year grumbled, “Playing a small club — that’s really what I do.” Oct. 18-19. SFJazz, 201 Franklin St., San Francisco. www.sfjazz.org.
Temple of the Dog: Music fans of a certain age will be thrilled to relive that one summer when a couple of members of Pearl Jam entered the studio with a couple of members of Soundgarden and emerged with Temple of the Dog’s one and only self-titled album in 1991 (before grunge was even a thing!). The core members of the group have reunited for a five-city tour — including two shows in San Francisco. Nov. 11-12. Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, 99 Grove St., San Francisco. www.ticketmaster.com
