Angels deal Nava to K.C.

-

The Los Angeles Angels traded outfielder Daniel Nava to the Kansas City Royals on Monday.

Los Angeles also traded cash considerations to the Royals, who will send back cash or a player to be named.

Nava, who played at Santa Clara and the College of San Mateo, struggled in his only season with the Angels, who hoped he could fill their gaping void in left field after adding him in the offseason. He batted .235 with one homer and 13 RBIs in 45 games for the Angels, and he missed 46 games with tendinitis and a groin strain.

The Angels designated Nava for assignment on July 30 along with Craig Gentry, the other half of the team’s disappointing outfield tandem. Gentry played for the A’s the past two seasons.
