Specials’ music, message still resonate decades later

- — Aidin Vaziri

Having weathered countless lineup changes — and the recent death of drummer John Bradbury — the Specials continue to deliver the manic sound of the late ’70s-early ’80s British 2 Tone ska scene with unrivaled mastery. The group’s most beloved songs, such as “A Message to You, Rudy” and “Rat Race,” feel as relevant now as ever, spilling over with good-humored punk attitude and fantastic energy.

The core members of the group — singer Terry Hall, guitarist Lynval Golding and bassist Horace Panter — lead the band’s latest order.
