ST. FRANK GOES SOUTH

-

The interiors store St. Frank has quickly garnered a reputation for bringing the best furnishings and home accessories from around the world to its distinguished Bay Area clientele. Now, South Bay devotees no longer need journey to San Francisco, as a second location opened in Palo Alto this summer. In addition to the brand’s signature handcrafted items, created and sourced in partnership with organizations that help their international makers thrive, St. Frank Palo Alto has debuted a premier line of wallpaper as well as new necklaces and travel accessories from their Lizzie Fortunato x St. Frank collaboration. Up next on the itinerary? A third location, opening in Los Angeles this winter. www.stfrank.com What happens when two Swedes become obsessed with an eclectic houseboat community bobbing off a hamlet on San Francisco Bay?

“Floating in Sausalito” is a glorious oversized photo-book that captures an “only in California” cast of characters in its pages, from a salty, pipe-puffing seaman to a pair of young bohemians to a blind cat named Monster. But the equally photogenic co-stars are the floating domiciles themselves: The Bateau de Rêve, the Crystal Palace, the Train Wreck (made from a century-old mahogany Pullman railroad car) and so many more. The foreign narrators share bits of California history in the whimsical and wide-eyed way only outsiders can, but mostly they let the residents speak for themselves. And they have an ocean’s worth of tales. www.kerberverlag.com
