Arnold Greenfield

-

Beloved Father, Grandfather, Husband, and Friend Dies at 95 Arnold Greenfield, former owner of Califorms Printing Company, San Jose, CA, died at his daughter’s home Sunday, 11/27/16.

He was active for 40 years in the Printing Industries of Northern California (PINC), serving as its president and health insurance trust chairman.

He and several other industry pioneers were responsible for starting the Visual Media Alliance (VMA) health insurance program over 38 years ago that today, insures over 20,000 printing industry employees, statewide. He was also a past president of International Business Forms Industries (IBFI) and involved in Printing Industries of America (PIA.)

Arnold always knew he wanted to be a printer, and attended the New York School of Printing.

He started his career in forms printing with Alfred Allen Watts Company on the East coast, before serving for 3 years in the Army in Europe during World War II.

At Watts Arnold worked his way up to Executive Vice President under President Joe Steir. The Greenfield and Steir family grandkids are close friends to this day.

Moving to California in 1967 to work for Courier Citizen Company for 8 years, he purchased Califorms in 1975 from its founders, and grew the firm to over 100 employees.

Arnold loved music, dance, street fairs, parades, the circus, and especially the theater. He saw every show in San Francisco, and would travel as often as he could to see shows in New York and when really lucky, London or another favorite city, Paris!

Most of all, he loved people, and had good friends all over the world. Arnold had an infectious zest for life that he shared with all who met him. He will be missed!

Arnold’s loving wife Nancy Blair Simonson Greenfield passed 8/23/2015. He is survived by his adoring daughter, Darshana Maya Greenfield (b. Bess Melinda Greenfield) and granddaughter, Genyana Marina Greenfield August.

If you were a friend of Arnold’s and would like to attend his “Celebration of Life” on Fri, 2/3, from 3-6 pm in San Francisco, please RSVP to laura@vma.bz (800) 659-3363
