Frank Setsuzo Kimura

Frank passed away, peacefully at home, the morning of November 22, 2016. He was a graduate of Lowell High School and Heald College of Engineerin­g. During WWII, he and his family were forced into internment camps along with many other Japanese Americans. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, then returned to San Francisco and worked as a mechanical engineer for the Cookson Door Co. until his retirement. He was an avid San Francisco sports fan, following the Niners, Giants and Warriors. Frank was predecease­d by his parents Kumahiko and Suyeme Kimura, brothers Mitsuho and Joe Kimura, sisters Miyeko Kimura and Kashiko Kawaguchi. He is survived by his beloved dog, Chiquita, children Reiko Kimura-Coltek (Gary) and Jay Kimura (Alicia), grandchild­ren Zachary (Cindy) and Tucker Coltek, Remy Coltek, brother Ben Kimura, and sisters Sasako Himaka and Emiko (Mikio) Suzuki, former wife Chiyeko Kimura, and many nieces and nephews. Frank was happy and fortunate to be part of a great group of life-long friends through his participat­ion with the Buddhist Church basketball team and the Hi-Fi Stock Club. We would like to thank Frank’s caregivers, Felma, Susan and Elvis who treated him like family. Also, many thanks to Earle Mills and staff who cared for him in the beginning of his rehabilita­tion. Memorial services for Frank will be held at Ashley McMullen, 4200 Geary Blvd., San Francisco 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 21, 2016.
