Passed away peacefully on January 7, 2017 at his home in So. San Francisco with his wife Helga and niece Elizabeth at his side at the age of 86.

Uwe was born in Frankfurt, Germany on August 18, 1930 and immigrated to San Francisco via Canada. He was predecease­d by his parents Hedwig and Friedrich Zinck and his brother Tankred.

Uwe and Helga were married 37 years ago at St. Thomas More Church in San Francisco.

Uwe had a loving relationsh­ip with his brothers-in-law Harry, Fred and Curt Vogl and Joseph Fischer and their spouses, children, grand children and great grandchild­ren.

He leaves behind long-time friend Reinhold Bitter, Mrs. Hella Meixner of Germany and cousins in Germany. Also, predecease­d by his long-time friend Helmuth Wacker.

Uwe was a hard working Electricia­n and very proud of his 50 year membership in the Internatio­nal Brotherhoo­d of Electrical Workers, Local # 6. He was a strong supporter of his Catholic faith and of his wife’s membership in the Y.L.I.

Uwe was an avid reader, soccer fan, former Soaring Pilot, all around handyman and the very best husband one could have.

A big thank you to brother-in-law Harry and Denise Goodwin, to niece Elizabeth and the Mission Hospice Team for their loving support in his final days.

Visitation will begin at 4:00pm, followed by the Rosary Vigil at 7:00pm on Monday, January 16, at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave. Daly City. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday January 17 at 10:00am at St. Veronica Church, 434 Alida Way, So. San Francisco, followed by burial at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Mission Rd. Colma.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Society Devoted to the Sacred Heart, 2927 S. Greenville St Santa Ana CA 92704 or to a disabled Veteran’s group.
