Marie Cordeiro Schwarz returned home to her Heavenly Father on Friday, March 17th, 2017. She was born in San Leandro, CA on June 15, 1926, the daughter of Azorean immigrants, Antonio & Olga Cordeiro. She loved growing up on a farm where she could see San Francisco from her backyard. She eventually moved there with her husband, Max, before settling and living most of her life in Sacramento. Marie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will live on in the memories of her descendants, surviving family, and friends.

Marie’s greatest joy in life was her family. She savored every birthday, every holiday, every family reunion. She was always behind the camera snapping pictures, to be sure the memory was remembered. She cherished the annual beach trips and the memorable joy of watching her children and grandchildren flying kites together on the ocean breezes. Along with her family, she loved traveling (whenever the opportunity or reason arose), enjoyed reading, watching movies, and giving birthday balloons.

Marie is survived by her sons Paul (Gail) and Richard (Diane); her grandchildren Adam (Shastina), Kevin (Rochelle), Alexander, Leanne (Kenney) Laura, and Ryan; and great grandchildren Adelina and Maximilian. She was preceded in death by Max, her husband of over 66 years in 2015 and her brother Fr. Anthony Cordeiro, O.P. in 2010.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 24th, at St. Dominic’s Church, 475 East I Street, Benicia. Burial will follow in St. Dominic’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Catholic Charities in Marie’s memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Passalacqua Funeral Chapel.
