Chun Lum Say

Chun Lum Say passed away peacefully at his San Mateo home on March 2, 2017. Chun Lum was born on March 11, 1931 to Bow Sing and Ong Mui Say in Waipahu, Hawaii. He was a proud member of McKinley High School’s class of 1949 attending many reunions in both Hawaii and Las Vegas including the 50th and 60th.

Chun Lum served in the US Army and worked for 31 years for the US Postal Service. He also spent many years at Ching Lee Laundry helping his brother in law Richard Yee. The Island Boy married Eleanor Quan, his City Girl, in 1957 and spent 40 years together raising their three children, Anita, Aaron and Arnold. After his granddaugh­ter Annika was born, he spent 12 years traveling back and forth to Napa to care for her.

Annika and her Papa shared a special bond.

Chun Lum is survived by siblings Linn Bow, Chun Hu Say (Irene), Hisayo Say, Wanda Chur, Michael Say, Lynne Kam (Alvin), and Lillian Bow, his daughter Anita Holquist (Greg), son Aaron Say (Deborah) and the joy of his life granddaugh­ter

Annika Keeley Nicole Holquist. He is also survived by a number of brother and sister in laws, cousins, many nieces and nephews and numerous friends in both Hawaii and California. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Eleanor, his son Arnold and brother Chun Kee Say.

At his request there will be no services but a celebratio­n of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in his memory to St. Mark Catholic Church, 325 Marine View Ave., Belmont, CA 94002.
