Maria was born August 28, 1926 to Ettore Maloni and Gesualda Ceoconi the second of four children and the only daughter. She married the love of her life, Renato Groppi on April 6, 1953 in Crespiano, Italy. They came to the United States in 1954 and settled in San Francisco. For over 30 years Renato and Maria owned and worked in several Italian bakeries. Maria loved interacting with people and when Renato retired she opened and ran Café Europa. In her last years she was surrounded by her feline and canine friends Sophie, Conrad, Tucker, and Lola.

Maria battled with Alzheimer’s disease for several years but never lost her love of sweets. Bob would like to personally express his gratitude to Marco for taking up the major role in the care of their mother. The family would also like to publically thank two angels, Aurora and Maria for the loving care they provided to Maria.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made in Maria’s name to Alzheimer’s disease research. In Bocca al lupo.
