-

Marjorie Ann Sullivan Caserta passed away on March 29, 2017 at the age of 94. Born on Monday, February 26, 1923, in San Francisco, Marjorie attended St. James Grammar School and Immaculate Conception Academy, and was a committed wife and mother.

She lived a very full life, populated with family, friends and delicious food. Marjorie’s ample spirit and sharp wit came through whether she was sharing scratchers, Sanka or a trip to River Rock Casino with her beloved niece Lauren Ellison and nephew Robert Hansen (who preceded her in death in 2015).

Marjorie spent the last years of her life in the warm care of those who worked at Nazareth House San Rafael, where she was compassionately tended to by caregivers who also became friends. Her final days included sensitive care from Hospice by the Bay.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Captain Elmer Caserta, as well as her parents Thomas and Mary Louise Sullivan, and siblings Thomas Sullivan, May Hansen, Kathleen Neff, and Charlotte Gouailhardou.

She is survived by her daughter Jeanne Patricia Mannion (Tom, predeceased), sons Thomas Neal Caserta (Aphrodite) and Richard John Caserta (Sharon); grandchildren Christopher Mannion, Dana Nuber, Joseph Caserta and Ann Caserta; great-grandchildren Natalie Mannion, Thomas Mannion, Coraline Nuber, Javon Caserta and Anthony Caserta, along with many nieces and nephews in the extended family, including the Neffs, Hansens, Sullivans and Gouailhardous.

Marjorie will have a private burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, April 7 at 11:00am at Nazareth House Chapel, 245 Nova Albion Way, San Rafael, CA 94903. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marjorie’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Nazareth House San Rafael.
