Hot Property

- By Jordan Guinn

Six-bedroom in Alameda’s Gold Coast has indoor pool and hardwood and marble floors.

Only one home in Alameda offers an indoor swimming pool. It happens to be the same one that just hit the market and will have an open house this weekend.

“This verdant and sumptuous property sited in the heart of Alameda’s Gold Coast reaches the pinnacle of refinement and spa-like luxury,” said David Gunderman of Alain Pinel Real Estate, who is co-listing the 1277 Bay St. with Andrew Raskopf for $2.895 million.

Completed in 1970, the sixbedroom Tudor received its upper level in the ’90s. The pool house arrived in 2004 and it is the only privately owned indoor pool in Alameda, Gunderman said.

Hardwood and marble floors pair with stone counters and a myriad of hand-carved fireplaces peppered throughout the home. French doors off the formal dining room open to the rear garden, while the dining space has a wet bar and mirrored wall.

Gunderman identifies the listing’s premier feature as the dramatic pool house. Plantings and pale stone bathe in sunlight that filters through the cathedral ceiling’s multiple skylights. An open kitchen and full bathroom lend additional convenience to the space with built-in seating and surround sound speakers. An outdoor hot tub resides nearby, capping off the sumptuous space.

“It’s a jaw-dropping retreat that needs to be experienced to be believed,” Gunderman said.

Not to be outdone by the pool house’s kitchen, the main house offers an eat-in cooking area loaded with professional appliances, granite counters and a greenhouse window.

Functionality is woven

throughout the construction. Consider the upper level’s au pair potential with a large en suite bedroom and separate studio room or the expansive laundry room teeming with Maytag appliances and builtins.

Japanese maples, tropical palms, sculpted hedges and fern pine trees grace the verdant landscape surrounding the custom home.

“It’s an elegant living space with exquisite attention to detail in what is arguably the most coveted block in the city of Alameda,” Gunderman said.
